Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a device used in the mouth to replace one or more missing teeth. A "traditional" bridge is made out of 3 pieces, one on either side of the gap, and attached to existing teeth (usually crowns are made to cover these teeth) with the "false" tooth in the middle. These three pieces are then attached together to "bridge" the gap of the missing teeth.
After an extensive interview and thorough examination, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi, consults with his patients to determine the best solutions for their dental health and new teeth. Depending on where the bridge is needed, either this type of traditional bridge is used or a "resin bonded" bridge (also referred to as a "Maryland" bridge) may be in order, most commonly, when the missing teeth are in the front of the mouth. This type of bridge is fused together with metal bands and the adjacent teeth.
A third type of dental bridge is also used, similar to a retainer with teeth attached, which can be removed from the mouth. This type of device is known as a partial.
