Dental Bonding

Bonding is used in dentistry to fix cosmetic and structural imperfections in the teeth. Commonly, bonding deals with dental issues such as cracks, chips, decay, short or misshapen teeth, misaligned or discolored teeth, protection of the exposed root of a tooth, or to replace old amalgam fillings.

First, the tooth is prepared by a micro-etching process on the surface of the tooth to assist the bonding of the resin material. Then a tooth colored putty-like resin is chosen in a shade to match adjacent teeth and after the resin is meticulously sculpted to the desired shape, a laser is used to harden and permanently bond it to the tooth.

This is a relatively fast, affordable, painless and long lasting procedure. It can normally be completed in one dental visit, depending, of course, on the extent of the repair needed.
